Hyatt Place Austin Airport

For an airport stay, this was good for the price. The hotel was in great shape, my room was clean, and the exercise equipment was in the best condition I’ve seen. I enjoyed the breakfast and the alert, friendly night-shift woman I spoke with each morning at the front desk. My room had great views of aircraft taking off, though it was a little noisy. Housekeeping knocked at noon even though I had a 2 PM late checkout, and there wasn’t a usable indoor pool for winter.

I left a bright yellow short robe during a park-and-fly stay and contacted the hotel within 24 hours. After calling, I was told to submit a form on the “I left my stuff” site, but then they said nobody had found a small yellow robe that could have been mistaken for a bathing cover-up. I spoke with Hyatt twice and felt as though they thought I was making it up. Each time I talked to someone in person, I was sent to the website or told the robe was never there. Nobody checked the lost and found when I returned, either. I was very disappointed by the lack of care.

Online check-in and checkout were easy, and the shuttle ride from the terminal took just a few minutes. The driver was super friendly and sounded like a true Texan. My top-floor room was spotless, spacious, and quiet despite being near the runways. Breakfast was included and generous, with lots of hot and cold, sweet and savory options. I’d have liked plain, unsweetened yogurt. There were tea bags in the room, but no proper kettle, and hot water from the coffee machine left a coffee taste in the tea. A peaceful choice for an early or late flight, or a layover.

The location was perfect, and the shuttle was handy. They also put out grab-and-go food for anyone leaving before breakfast starts. We were on the second floor and heard the person above us for hours, so we barely slept. I’d recommend staying on floor 4.
