Motel 6 Austin, TX - North Central

The fridge and microwave worked, and we had cups, clean towels, and a TV. For one night and the price, it was just okay, though. The room smelled strongly of dampness and weed, one bed had broken wood underneath and felt unstable, so we had to fix it ourselves before bed. There were also roaches and stains on the blankets.

The room was hard to sleep in: a dog barked all night, and one side of the bed sagged badly, as if it hadn't been maintained for ages. I also had people knocking early in the morning, including a housekeeper at 9:30 AM, despite having requested and confirmed a late checkout with the receptionist. That request apparently never made it to anyone else, and the staff seemed disorganized from the start. I normally stay at the Motel 6 locations up the road, where the staff have been friendly, consistent, and accommodating. A booking mistake brought me here instead, and it was one of my worst travel experiences. I wish I’d stayed at Motel 6 this time too. Those locations are much more professional and reliable, and take better care of guests.

The A/C could have been colder, but I have no other complaints. I’d stay here again if I’m in the area.

For $58, the second room was worth it. The first one was awful: the phone and TV didn’t work, there was no refrigerator, only two towels, and the A/C was so noisy I wouldn’t have slept. The second room was much better.
