Ever at The Diner on the first floor is why I ate breakfast at the hotel every morning. That kind of service changes the whole stay. A huge thank you to him, and to the whole Thompson Austin team, from the front desk to housekeeping. Everyone was welcoming, polished, and genuinely kind. Absolutely top tier. 👏

The downtown Austin location worked equally well for exploring and for work, and my company's corporate rate made valet parking reasonably priced. I was here on a business trip, and the stay delivered what I expect from the Thompson brand and then some. As a Hyatt Globalist, I found the complimentary breakfast outstanding, both in quality and presentation. Everything went smoothly, and this will be my first choice when I'm back in Austin.

The staff I met were nice, courteous, smiling, and willing to help, but the stay didn't feel upscale, despite the modern, upscale-looking photos. The shower was the worst part. The rain shower head pressure was low, and after I told the concierge desk, I was told an engineer would check it while we were out. The pressure was still the same when we returned, and no one followed up. The room was small. A front desk employee said I'd been upgraded to a higher floor, but it was the same room as on a lower floor and the view wasn't any better. The building seemed a little old, and I expected something more like Thompson Dallas. I also booked with AMEX benefits: Thompson Dallas combined two back-to-back reservations and gave me $200 credit, $100 per reservation. Thompson Austin gave me only $100, saying the bookings were combined as one reservation. I stayed over Christmas weekend 2025, and I was underwhelmed from the start.

The pool felt like a private oasis, the fitness center had good equipment, and every meal at the on-site dining spots seemed carefully made. My room was spotless, with comfortable bedding, upscale touches, and great city views. The hotel's modern design is stylish and thoughtfully done. From arrival onward, the staff made me feel welcome and looked after, with warm, sincere service from the front desk through to valet. Thompson Austin by Hyatt offers a luxury stay with a personal touch, whether you're in town for work or a getaway. I can't wait to return and would recommend it.
