Fairfield Inn & Suites Carlsbad

It was quiet, there are EV chargers, and Walmart is right next door. The rest didn’t meet my expectations for a Fairfield. There was trash left by the previous guest, the shower was barely warm and had poor pressure, the beds weren’t comfortable, and the TV didn’t work, which the front desk had told us about. This place needs an upgrade. The box spring fabric is coming off, the counter veneer is peeling, and the couch in our room still has what looks like a kid’s ink masterpiece etched all over it. The bathroom shower curtain was moldy, and the caulking showed signs of mold too.

My husband left his diabetes medication in the fridge, so he called the next day to report it. They said nothing had been found or turned in, even though they have a strict policy requiring items left in rooms to be turned in. He’s away at work for three weeks and lives 10-12 hours away. The person who helped me on the phone was helpful, but I’m still very dissatisfied and disappointed. Do better, Fairfield.

We arrived early for breakfast, but the waffle mix and yogurt were already gone. The bedding and towels weren’t clean, and the shampoo and body wash seemed to have water added. So disappointing. This isn’t Marriott hotel standard.

Fairfield Inn Carlsbad was clean and comfortable, though you can tell the property is older. The linens were fresh, the bathroom was spotless, and the surfaces were free of dust. The fixtures, carpet, and some furniture looked dated or a little worn, even though everything worked and was very clean. It may feel different if you’re used to brand-new places. The staff were generally friendly and efficient, and the hotel makes a reliable base for seeing local attractions. For the price, it’s a good value if you care more about a clean, comfortable room than modern finishes.
