Aurora Hotel

The rooftop next to my room became my favorite place to spend late evenings, watching the view and deer wandering around the neighborhood. My ocean-view room was worth the extra fee, with a magnificent, mesmerizing outlook, and the AC was already on when I arrived, so it was cool and comfortable. The building is small and older, tucked among residential buildings, about an 11-minute walk from the boat station. My room surprised me by being so small, but it had everything I needed, from a microwave, fridge, vanity, and coffee maker to Q-tips and shower caps. There wasn’t a closet, just a small hanging space and deep drawers. I’ve put everything in the photos. The gentleman who checked me in was wonderfully friendly and professional, and helped carry my luggage up to the third floor. Breakfast was included and suited me well. It was nice that they let me make a plate and take it to my room. I truly enjoyed the stay and will most likely book here again when I return.

Parker and Melissa at the front desk were lovely and shared lots of recommendations. We arrived around 1 pm and were pleasantly surprised that our room was already ready. The room was a little small, but had what we needed, and the partial ocean view was a treat. Since the hotel sits up on a hill, the views are great, and the location is very convenient. It’s an absolutely lovely place to stay on the island. I’d recommend it.

The complimentary breakfast, wine, and cheese were great, and the rooms are nice, though small, like everything on the island. The view is beautiful, but smoking isn’t allowed on the balcony or patio. The real letdown was having no elevator. Hauling luggage up the hill to the hotel and then up three flights of stairs was not fun.

Parker helped us with our luggage when we arrived Friday afternoon, and our second-floor room was gorgeous. We had wine and cheese on Friday, then mimosas Saturday morning, and Parker even gave us a ride to the casino that evening. The rooftop view is fantastic, and breakfast was great every day. All the staff were great, and the accommodations made our Catalina stay even better. We’ll be back next year, maybe sooner!
