The staff were really friendly, even at 3am, and the hostel felt secure enough. The neighborhood didn’t seem tourist friendly at that hour, though my flight had been delayed. The bathroom was small but clean and didn’t smell bad. Towels were tiny, the blankets were fine for ordinary cold weather, and the pillows were good. The wooden bunks were awkward to climb up and down, especially in the dark. The kitchen is basic, with pancake mix so you can make your own. For the price, I liked it.

I was refunded the full amount without any trouble. The staff contacted me, took my experience seriously, and said they’d have a professional check the room for a possible bug issue. Still, I booked three nights and left after just one. I woke up with three or four fresh bites on my legs, bleeding and oozing. I can’t say they were bed bugs, but something definitely bit me. The hostel is beautiful and full of character, with excellent amenities and a very good location. My private room was cozy, though I woke up to cooking sounds from the kitchen right next door. I always check rooms for cleanliness and looked under the beds. It was filthy. The rooms may be cleaned, but whoever does it is doing the bare minimum.

The kitchen and living areas felt cozy and comfortable, and the staff were kind and helpful. I spent about five days at HI and have never felt this good in a hostel. The price surprised me for such good service. The rooms were spacious and clean, with bathrooms inside, which was pretty cool. It could get noisy from the street at night, but not enough to stop me sleeping. I got cold at night and they kindly gave me extra blankets. Laundry is available in the basement, just bring your own change. I’d definitely recommend this hostel.

I felt totally safe in the beautiful area, and the building itself is lovely and old. The staff were kind and accommodating, and the rooms were nice. I was in a six-person female dorm, and most people in my room were asleep before midnight. It didn’t seem like a party hostel, which I didn’t mind, though I saw they host bar crawls, so that may not always be the case. Really excellent hostel!

I’ve stayed here twice and loved it both times. It’s cheaper than a hotel or motel, and there are co-ed, men’s, and women’s rooms, each with its own bathroom. There’s a game room and laundry room downstairs. Breakfast is free each morning, though you make it yourself. The coffee was the best I’ve ever had, Zeke's, organic and local. The staff are friendly and helpful.
