Quality Inn Near Pimlico Racetrack

The room was clean and comfortable, and the front desk team were friendly, so check-in went smoothly. Our room didn’t smell of smoke, luckily, but the main lobby had a strong cigarette odor that was more noticeable than I expected, even though I’m usually not bothered by it. The keys were a hassle: they reset every day, so we had to return to the desk late at night to get them reprogrammed. Breakfast was advertised for 7-9 a.m., but it was only available on Sunday, our checkout day, which was disappointing. Still, it was a decent place to sleep and shower.

The rooms are filthy and have roaches, yet they charge a hundred dollars during the week. The woman at the front desk, Camille, was rude. I told her about the roaches, and she just looked at me and did nothing.

I was in the area for a few nights of business, and the room had what I needed. The AC worked well, the bed was comfortable, and I had hot water every time I showered. It was clean, too. The staff were cool and let me extend checkout without a hassle, and there are plenty of places to eat nearby. It’s not the Ritz, but the price is fair for what you get. I’d stay again if I’m back around there.

The area isn’t especially interesting, though Druid Hill Park is nearby by bus or car. There’s a bus stop on the main road, and Rogers Ave metro station is about a 20-minute walk away. The room was better than at other cheap hotels I’ve tried, and mostly clean. It had a mini fridge, microwave, and TV, but no blankets on the bed. I suspect the top cover usually isn’t washed, though I had to use it. I didn’t try the shower, but the sink had no hot water and the wifi was terrible. They said breakfast ran from 7-9 a.m., but when I went out at 8:40 there was nothing. Check-in took a while for no clear reason. It gets the job done apart from the wifi.
