Stay Alfred on South Charles Street

The staff kept in touch by text, and our arrival and checkout instructions were easy to follow. The apartment was clean, quiet, and nicely furnished, though the sofa and chair cushions got uncomfortable after sitting for a while. Its location worked well for the harbor and nearby sights. Parking was the main drawback: we found a street spot for the weekend, but I’m not sure we’d have been as lucky for a week. I’d consider staying here again in Baltimore.

We had a great stay at Banner Hill while attending a trade show at the convention center. The 2 Bedroom unit worked well for my wife and me, and the whole property seemed well cared for and made with high-quality materials. Getting to the Stay Alfred units took a little time since it’s a high-rise apartment building. The elevator was also out of order, which made the trips to and from our room slower. Still, it was a very good experience.

I stayed here on Charles St in Baltimore for a little over two weeks. It was decent, though the previous place I’d stayed was cheaper and such a good experience that this one had a lot to live up to. The swimming pool was hard to use. You had to go to the office, leave your ID, get a pass, then return the pass and collect your ID afterward. That made it awkward to swim once in the morning and again in the afternoon. Staff weren’t always available when we went at noon and 3pm, so my kids and I didn’t get to swim at all during the two weeks. Other places just give you the pass with your keys and take it back at checkout. There’s no free parking, which only matters if you have a car, and the business center had no nearby private space for calls or work. On the plus side, the apartment was modern and new, with fitness amenities and a nice spot behind the building to relax. It’s across from the Inner Harbor, though you do have to cross a large, busy street.

Stay Alfred has become my go-to site for booking places in major US cities because I know what to expect. This large one bedroom apartment was well located and had great amenities. The National Aquarium and the Engaging Museum of Visionary Art were easy walks away. Little Italy, with its good food, and the Whole Foods grocery store were farther, but still pleasant walks. We also caught the bus just outside on Charles Street to reach the art museums and train station.
