Bluenose Inn - Bar Harbor Collection

The tables in the Great Room were sticky and cluttered when I spent the evening there. I’d hoped to enjoy the lounge and piano music, but instead I’ll just say: look up the pianist’s full name and read the 2025 and 2026 articles. That’s all.

We had a drink in the Great Room and listened to Bill Trowell play. He’s exceptionally talented, and it was a real pleasure. We were there for one night at the Blue Nose, in a roomy suite with a fireplace, huge bathroom, balcony, and a breathtaking view of the ocean.

The new Eden building was clean and comfortable, and we really liked the spacious living area and kitchen. The bedroom’s massage chair was a fun extra. We booked as three people, a married couple and a friend who slept on the pullout in the living room. The one awkward part was that the living room has no bathroom door, so our friend had to walk through the bedroom at night to use it. It wasn’t a dealbreaker, but I’d expected another door and wish we’d known for planning. We’d happily stay again.

The Bluenose worked out as a great value for both of our September stays. The Island Explorer stops right at the property, downtown Bar Harbor is an easy ten-minute walk, and Acadia is a short drive away. From there, getting around Mount Desert Island was straightforward. The staff were welcoming, professional, and helpful throughout. We stayed in the main building, where our balcony looked out over Frenchman's Bay. Sunrise from there was spectacular, though in summer it can be around 5:30 AM, so close the curtains if you want to sleep in. The room was spotless and comfortable, with a fireplace that was lovely on chilly Maine evenings. The mattress topper made the bed feel plush. There was a coffee maker in the room and more coffee supplies downstairs.
