Wonder View Inn - Bar Harbor Collection

I love the old-style motel feel here, especially being able to pull right up to the room door. The motel is one part of a larger resort with several buildings and lots of amenities. Our room was clean and had an incredible view. Downtown is walkable, and there’s also bus service. I think it would be harder to get this kind of view if you stayed in town.

We planned to stay two nights, then added another, and ended up trying two different rooms. Both were simple, clean, and quiet at night. Bar Harbor was within walking distance, which was our main way of getting around. The Island Explorer bus stops right on the hotel grounds and is fast and free. You can also rent bikes in Bar Harber and ride to get around, since the hotel is on the way to the Carriage Road. Breakfast wasn’t included, but we got discounted lunch coupons for the restaurant. The front desk staff were mostly helpful and friendly. My only complaints were that the bathrooms have no vents, so you have to open the windows, and there was no hand soap, which I consider a necessity in a modern hotel. The laundry room also has no coin or bill changers, so you have to go to the front desk. Overall, it’s a good hotel in a great location, and we’d stay again.

The view was beautiful from our clean, quiet room, and town was close enough that we walked there every day. We also spotted deer and wild turkeys most evenings, either from our balcony or while walking around. Later in the evening we enjoyed the live piano music at the Bluenose. Breakfast at the Looking Glass was delicious and convenient.

The beds were comfortable, and the room had nice amenities, including a TV and a view of the village and harbor. The inn is cute and just outside town, with indoor and outdoor pools and a decent-sized souvenir shop on site. Bar Harbor Village was less than a five-minute drive away. The room did smell a bit stale, which made sense since the inn welcomes pets, and it badly needs updating. I’d stay here again.
