Best Western Baraboo Inn

The staff were helpful and very friendly. For what I paid, a clean bed and decent breakfast were great. The bed itself was clean, though the floor corners and bathroom could use a more thorough cleaning if you look closely.

After a long drive, we paid for a whirlpool suite, but the mold smell hit as soon as we opened the door. The bathroom was so moldy that we shut it and didn’t shower, and mold above the whirlpool put us off using that too. We were afraid to turn on the heat in case it blew mold around. Grout was missing all around the whirlpool, with pink signs that looked like listeria. We were too tired to change hotels after 9 p.m., so we stayed, probably the wrong call. I’ve had respiratory problems for two days since. This was the worst hotel stay of my life. I used to think Best Westerns were clean, family-friendly, affordable places with a clear standard of quality. Does the name mean anything to the company anymore?

The room was spacious and just right, with good water pressure. The hotel was very clean, and the employees were friendly. I’d stay again.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and they even printed my Noah's Ark tickets. Breakfast was free, with plenty of hot and cold choices from 5 a.m. to 10, and the coffee was surprisingly good. The pool was clean, open late, and had towels available; my four-year-old had a great time. Check-in was easy, they let us in early since the room was ready, and I liked the earlier check-in and later checkout times. The room was stocked, the TV was nice, and the appliances worked well. The sheets and bed were clean, though I noticed a few spots elsewhere that could use more than a quick clean. The pillows weren’t great, but were okay for a couple nights. It seems there’s a new owner fixing up the place and cleaning well. The fitness area has only a few machines, and the treadmill was out of order, but what worked was enough for a couple of days. My main concern was that the first-floor window wouldn’t lock. The screen didn’t slide, but could be removed. I knew the area was safe, so it didn’t make me too uncomfortable. We had a great three-day trip in Baraboo/Wis. Dells, and Best Western Baraboo gave us great service for the price.
