Travelodge Barstow

Brinda checked us in at midnight and made us feel right at home. Her service was top-notch. Everything at this Travelodge was spotless and well maintained, and I was so impressed it felt like a 5-star hotel.

The bed was comfortable and the sheet was clean, but the bedspread was worn and had large holes. Cleanliness was an issue during both of my stays on this trip. The toilet bowls were clean on top, but the outside had marks I had to wipe off myself. One room’s bathtub was stained, and its curtain looked like it hadn’t been replaced in years, so I didn’t feel comfortable bathing. The first room was better than the second. Being right on the highway was convenient, though it’s near the train tracks, and I heard a train pass close to 2 AM.

I stay in hotels for work, and at another Travelodge they once shipped me a forgotten laptop without any trouble or charge, even though I offered to pay. Here, after leaving my jacket in the room, I had to call four times before they brought it out. They wouldn’t mail it, so I have to arrange a FedEx or UPS pickup, even though I said I’d pay shipping. I live three hours away, so I’ll have to coordinate the pickup while arranging the shipment. I waited an hour to check in, and there was no breakfast. I tipped the front desk, cooks, and housekeepers because they were awesome, unlike the staff here.

I was here for nine days, and it was well worth the money. The room was super clean, with soft white towels and bedding, and it smelled great. You can tell the rooms have been newly remodeled. The owners were some of the nicest I’ve met and really helpful. I had no issues. A must-stay place, five stars.
