Updated: The hotel's response said I'd never stayed there and that my review was false. That attempt to deflect from its practices says even more about how far they're willing to go to mislead people. This is the only one-star review I've ever left. On the same trip, I gave five stars to the New Orleans hotel I stayed at a few days later and to a Louisiana tour company. I'm not trying to hurt small businesses, but people should know about this establishment. We booked well ahead of an LSU game through a third-party site at a great rate. We arrived close to 6:30pm, a few hours after check-in began, and were told our reservation had been canceled because the card on file supposedly declined at 3pm. I wasn't there then, and the story was made up. My credit card company confirmed the card hadn't even been tried, and we had never given the hotel our card since we booked through the third-party site. Despite the alleged cancellation, they offered a room for $130 more per night than our original rate. This happened to us and two other couples while we were there. It seems they target people with good third-party rates on busy nights, banking on higher demand near LSU game time, then find a reason to cancel and charge more.

The room had a strong mold smell and obvious moisture damage. I reported it during my stay, but later the hotel said there was no record and refused to refund me under its no-refund policy. I left as soon as I saw the mold and never stayed there, yet they kept my money. This is a health hazard, and the hotel showed no accountability or concern for guests. Do not stay here. I'll delete this review when you refund me.

Affordable and convenient for a short stay, and you get what you pay for. The room has AC, a microwave, and a fridge; the bed is okay, though the shower isn't very good and the hair dryer in room 101 is broken. Breakfast is very basic: toast, biscuits, sausages, jam, and coffee.

What stood out most was how helpful the staff were. They went out of their way to make sure I had what I needed and shared local tips that made my trip more enjoyable. Everyone was welcoming, friendly, and ready to help with a smile. Check-in was smooth and efficient, and I felt comfortable right away. It was a wonderful stay from start to finish.

The owner is a nice guy, but the stay wasn't worth even half of what we paid. For all four days, my room smelled overwhelmingly of roach spray. The bathroom door was so bent and misaligned it wouldn't close, and the ice machine was loud enough to hear through the walls all night. I don't usually write reviews like this, but I want others to avoid the same experience. Hopefully the owner fixes the door, gets the ice machine working properly, deals with the ridiculously loud and disrespectful guests, and has the cleaning lady knock at 9 in the morning without disappearing afterward. Sorry.
