The man at the front desk was very friendly and helpful when we arrived. The bedroom was nice, though it had a distinct smell and there were weirdos everywhere. The bathroom was awful: the tub drain was clogged, the water wouldn't get hot, and paint was peeling from both the wall and sink. When housekeeping came, he said we had to get towels from the front desk. The phone in our room didn't work, so that wasn't helpful. He knocked again later, loudly and with an attitude, and said giving us towels wasn't his job. Two out of five. I wouldn't come again.

I'm a high school teacher and helped 26 exchange students arrange a one-night stay in Baton Rouge. I spoke directly with the manager and got confirmations after sending the information they requested. When the group arrived late at night, a chaperone called in a panic: the front desk said the manager had canceled the reservation two days earlier. I tried to sort it out with the desk while also reaching the manager and calling other hotels. Thankfully, the students found another place, but it cost twice what we had planned, which hurt since this school group had a tight budget. The manager called me back an hour later, said he hadn't canceled anything, didn't know what happened, and would look into it. I asked him to follow up the next day; he didn't until I texted again. Then he said he'd accidentally double-booked some rooms and the front desk had canceled without telling us. I can't tell what really happened. It felt like people were lying to make themselves look better or blaming someone else for a mistake. I understand mistakes happen, but canceling a reservation for 26 people without even telling us is unbelievable. These were foreign teenagers visiting the US for the first time. Things could have been much worse if nowhere else had been available. They'd spent a year going door to door selling homemade arts and crafts to fund the trip, and this blew their budget. The manager offered a 20% discount on a future stay, as though we'd ever book there again.

I've been here for two weeks for work. I found roaches in the room, the cleaning ladies don't come by, and I've had the same dirty towels since night one. I take my own trash out, and good luck finding anyone at the front desk.

The room was clean from the bathroom to the sheets and towels, and it smelled fresh. I didn’t have any complaints about it. There was a little peeling paint in one corner, but that’s the kind of cosmetic thing you only notice if you go looking for it. The front desk staff were friendly, and check-in was quick and efficient. At $75 for a king room, I thought it was a good deal. Some of the issues people mentioned before seem to have been fixed, including the sliding entrance door. The broken back door was still there, and the stairwell doors had nothing to keep them from slamming. Most of the other problems were outside the rooms and cosmetic. The only real annoyance was that neither of the two drink machines I saw took cards, though the snack machine did. There are at least five clean, safe convenience stores nearby, so getting drinks was easy enough.

We ended up trying three rooms, and every one smelled awful. The first was unlocked when we arrived, with an unmade bed and no towels. Room two was very musty and dirty, and the third wasn’t any better. I can’t recommend this place.
