Super 8 Beaumont/i-10 East

I booked for one night, but left before the night was over because the room was infested with roaches. The front desk wouldn't move me to another room or refund my money, even though I couldn't stay there. The elevator was out, so I had to use the stairs, and the air conditioning wasn't working properly. There were also people camping in the stairwells. This place is awful. It's cheap for obvious reasons, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. Find somewhere else.

The check-in itself was great. The clerk was nice, let me email a copy of my ID, and honored my room preference even though I booked through a third party. Both nights went smoothly on that front. The location was rough, though. We were pulled over when leaving and the vehicle was searched. We were released and given information about activities in the area. It was definitely not a relaxing stay: music came on around dark, and by 3 AM the walls were vibrating so badly we couldn't sleep. When I mentioned it while paying for the second night, the desk clerk said, "Oh, I'm aware." Cleanliness was a zero for me, unless you live like Joe, in Joe's Apartment. One small plus, you can pick up toilet paper and clean towels at the front desk. I'd give the location 2 stars and sleep and relaxation 0.

The room itself wasn't in good shape. There were paint footprints all over, the bathroom was dirty, and the tub was disgusting. The fridge barely worked even after we tried adjusting it, and half our food went bad. We tried to use the pool once, but it was completely locked up. The elevator was broken too, so after we arrived on the third floor with our children and all our things, they moved us to the first floor. Noise was constant, with doors slamming, especially the outside door, people running and stomping on the stairs above us, and arguments loud enough to hear through our room with the TV on. On two nights, a man followed us inside and walked behind us all the way to our room before going back out through the door at the end of the hall. My kids and I felt very uncomfortable. Police were there when I got up one morning, though I don't know who called or why. We didn't feel safe and I wouldn't stay again. 0/10, especially for families.

Flies were attacking us at check-in, and there were hard pieces of broken glass in the entryway. The room smelled awful, and the sheets on the bed looked unclean, so I brought my own bedding and towels. I bought deodorizers, sage, and sanitizer. Don't count on having a pool, and the ice machine was rusty.
