DoubleTree by Hilton Portland - Beaverton

The bed was really comfortable, and the room had a small coffee maker for two cups, a microwave, and a mini fridge. The layout felt odd, with the sink and counter out in the entryway, while the toilet and shower were tucked into a small room with a very loud light and fan. It seems like an old-school hotel that could use renovation or a brand change. The window unit HVAC was hard to deal with on a moderately cold winter day because the room got very warm and I couldn’t get the AC working. Luckily, the windows opened. The interstate is close, and traffic goes all night, though it wasn’t super loud inside.

The front desk staff were awesome, and the woman who greeted me was very pleasant. Still, I’d pick another hotel if traveling to Beaverton. She told me the Wi-Fi was out and there was no gym equipment. I went up to see the room, but the carpet was ripped, it smelled musty, and the window was open, so I left. I expect more from a Hilton property. I’m sharing this so other travelers know about the condition and missing services.

The indoor pool, hot tub, gym, and breakfast were all great, with waffles, eggs, potatoes, toast, and bagels. Staff were lovely, and I was offered a fresh chocolate chip cookie at check-in. But one night was pricey, and the window in our ground-floor room felt unsettling. There were no blinds, the curtains wouldn’t close, and the sheer drapes were see-through, so someone outside could potentially have watched us sleeping. Creepy. I probably wouldn’t pay that rate to stay again.

Breakfast was a mess, with dirty tables and dishes everywhere and nobody replenishing the food. The room wasn’t great either: the beds were springy and uncomfortable, so every movement carried through, and the pillows were old and flat. Our window shade was torn, and it was super noisy. A really bad experience.
