Hotel Leo

I loved my room, and it was very clean. The tea and coffee in the room were superb. The hotel is charming and historic, right in downtown Bellingham, and it left me with lots of positive feelings. I spoke with four employees, including the manager, and every one of them was warm, gentle, and friendly. This hotel is exceptional and should appeal to all kinds of travelers, from the US and abroad. I’ll definitely come back.

I’ve stayed here at least six times, in both apartment-style suites and tiny studios, and it’s the only place I stay in Bellingham. The team has always been so kind and nice. They even helped me find a bigger room when a family emergency came up. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and well furnished. The smallest studio works well for one person who plans to spend time out of the hotel, while the apartments are spacious and very comfortable for a family. The building isn’t soundproof, and you’ll hear lively Bellinghamsters at night, plus trains if you’re a light sleeper. I like that atmosphere, but it may not suit everyone. For me, cleanliness, friendly staff, and a central location matter more than shiny new decor or perfect quiet. The hotel is in the middle of a college-town hub with bars and restaurants.

The location is great, the foyer is a lovely place to hang out, and the linens were comfortable. The rooms themselves were nice, but some fixtures need repair or updating. The shower head had come away from the wall, and brown water came out of the faucet while plumbing repairs were underway. After cleaning up the mess, I would have appreciated fresh linens or some kind of incentive to return. The staff member gave a light, very polite apology but seemed to shrug off the problems. Coming from Japan, where customer experience is treated as extremely important, I found that disappointing.

At the Amendment 21 Bar, bartender Krystine really stands out. She’s welcoming and friendly, and her enthusiasm for her work comes through in every conversation. She’s great at offering recommendations or sharing a story that adds to the visit. Her mixology skills are impressive, too. Whether you want a classic cocktail or something more adventurous, Krystine can make a drink to suit your taste.
