Anchor Beach Inn

We got a lot for the room price and location. There was affordable laundry on site, which came in handy after the kids played hard at the beach, and the breakfast of bars, apples, coffee, and a sweet treat felt generous for a budget stay. The rooms were clean, the location was great, and digital check-in was easy. A woman was also in the lobby if we needed help. I was a bit nervous after reading some negative reviews, but our stay was great and we'll likely come back when we're in the area. The comforters were the one letdown. They weren't very cozy, though for the price they weren't bad. I'd probably bring my own next time.

The beach is right there, which we loved, and the location is wonderful. The Inn itself needs some work, though. Our room had a strong perfume smell that wouldn't go away even with the windows open for ages. It was clean enough, but the tub had chipped paint all over and looked pretty gross. We could barely enjoy the ocean view because the curtains meet in the middle and wouldn't open all the way. Bedside tables on both sides would be nice, too. The breakfast was disappointing: Twinkies, Ding Dongs, apples, and two granola bars. There's coin laundry, but nowhere to get coins, and hardly anyone at the front desk when you need help. We won't be back.

The two women working in the morning were extremely friendly and helpful. They went way out of their way when an issue came up, and I really appreciated it. We needed a pet-friendly place, and this worked out great. It was also my first time using digital video check-in, and there weren't any problems. We'll definitely be back. Thanks again for all the help and a really great stay.

The view was nice, and the bed and pillows were decent. But we never saw a live staff member, and the virtual desk clerk felt impersonal and a bit creepy. I asked the kiosk attendant where the coffee stir sticks were, and she had no idea. I never found any. They had coffee and tea, but no juice or milk, and we could see the virtual clerk watching as we picked up the grab-and-go breakfast items. Check-in also involved scanning my driver's license and credit card at the kiosk and paying a $100 deposit, which seems high for a walk-in stay. They won't refund it when you leave before 11, so they say the credit will come later. Hopefully it does, as promised.
