Redmont Hotel Birmingham, Curio Collection by Hilton

Birmingham’s historic hotel is beautiful, but the facade gives visitors a false impression. Lights, the shower, hot water and other in-room amenities may not work properly, and the fitness room was poorly maintained and not functional. I couldn’t try the rooftop bar because the doors were locked, though it looked amazing from outside. It could be so much more with better management oversight and fewer corners cut. The function just isn’t there.

The rooftop bar was the best part of my stay at the Redmont Hotel Birmingham, Curio Collection by Hilton. The view over downtown Birmingham was breathtaking at sunset, the atmosphere felt upscale but relaxed, and the drinks were beautifully made. The staff there were attentive and friendly. I found my room clean, cozy and thoughtfully laid out, with all the amenities I needed. The hotel has a lovely mix of historic character and modern elegance, and everywhere I looked seemed to tell a story. Staff greeted me warmly when I arrived, and check-in was smooth and easy. It was a memorable stay, whether you’re in town for business or a weekend away.

The New Year’s party was a lot of fun, and the valet treated us kindly. The woman at the front desk was nice too. Breakfast the next morning was a different story: the host was rude and wouldn’t let us eat in the designated seating area, so we had to take our food back to our room. I’ve never stayed at another hotel that wouldn’t let guests eat in the restaurant’s eating area. After paying good money, I expected better morning service. Aside from that, we had a very nice time at the party.

This was my second stay at the Redmont Hotel Birmingham, Curio Collection by Hilton, and I’d definitely come back on my next trip to Birmingham. I’d recommend it. My room was super clean, the bed was very comfortable, and the restaurant and bar served great food. The 1920s building keeps its old-world character, with marble staircases and vaulted ceilings, while the rooms are clean and stylish. The staff provided excellent service from check-in through checkout. I also liked being right in downtown, with restaurants and cultural spots easy to reach on foot. I had an excellent stay.
