Hemlock Inn

The log cabin decor was lovely, and it was so easy to walk to the shops and restaurants. We had a comfortable bed and a clean room at Hemlock Inn. We really enjoyed our stay last week and look forward to coming back.

We loved being able to walk to restaurants and shops, and the gas fire pit under the gazebo was perfect on cool evenings. The room was just right for our weekend, with a really comfy bed, great linens and pillows, plus little touches like wine glasses and good coffee mugs. We visit Blowing Rock often, and we'll come back to Hemlock Inn and recommend it to others.

The location is hard to beat, close to downtown so we can explore without driving or dealing with parking. We've been coming here for the past nine years and loved it, but on our last couple of visits the beds had gotten uncomfortable. We left a night early to avoid another sleepless night. It may be time for new mattresses. The staff are always polite, though they're not always there.

A few hours after I booked a one-night stay directly through the hotel's website, I got a notice that the confirmed reservation had been canceled without an explanation. When I called, the receptionist said it was due to “overbooking.” I'm disappointed by how unprofessional this felt, especially because I booked directly with the hotel rather than a third-party site. If they can't honor reservations made on their own website, I have serious concerns about their reliability and management. I hope they improve the booking process and communication with guests.
