Holiday Inn Express and Suites Youngstown N. Lima

We checked into the Holiday Inn Express at 10111 Market St, North Lima, Ohio, on March 2, 2026, after years of staying at Holiday Inn Express locations across Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Delaware. This was extremely disappointing. We paid about $120 a night and won’t return. I took pictures, and someone from corporate should make a surprise visit. The room was messy, the bathroom floor was dirty, and a used dental floss pick was on the floor. There was barely any toilet paper and no spare, so a worker and I took some from an empty room. When we first arrived around 4 p.m., our room door was propped open while workers replaced locks and latches. I asked one to put the latch back so we could change before going to a funeral in New Springfield, OH. Later, after we came back, our key no longer worked because the repairman had changed the lock and latch while we were out. The workers used an angle grinder on hardware, leaving metal flakes on the carpets, including by the pool entrance while people were using the pool. There was also flooding in the hallway, apparently from the second floor ice machine. A worker cleaned the hall, but not the nearby restrooms, which had flooded too. After I reported it around 9 p.m., they just put an out of order sign on the men’s room. Neither of the two free coffee machines in the lounge worked; their screens said they needed service. When I asked the front desk woman to fix them, she said no. Breakfast at 7 the next morning was no better. The pancake machine didn’t work, and there were no eggs or meat because the oven was out. The lounge windows were incredibly dirty, too. Even the parking lot looked like a bombed road in Baghdad.

My fiancé and I booked a weekend here after our hot water tank broke, but the stay was way overpriced and didn’t solve the hot shower problem. The shower only got lukewarm, the room wasn’t very clean, smelled musty and had mildew, and the blankets were stained. The pool was freezing. The bed was comfortable and breakfast was very good, though. Then today I was charged a smoking fee, even though I have asthma and don’t smoke. The front desk guy said cigarettes had been left in the room and that it smelled of smoke. That’s not possible, there was no smoking and no cigarette smell. He said his nose was sensitive and he noticed it when he went in Wednesday morning. I’d checked out Sunday. Maybe he smelled the musty odor we noticed, or maybe someone stayed there after us. With the poor shower and freezing supposedly heated pool, they should have comped me another night instead of charging a fee for smoking that never happened.

The breakfast attendant was really friendly and tried to find allergy friendly food for people who needed it, but she didn’t have much to choose from. In the room, the bathroom door wouldn’t latch and the shower was lukewarm at best. For the price, I guess it is what it is.

The room itself was reasonably clean, and I saw no sign of bedbugs. The shared areas and breakfast bar were very dirty and poorly maintained. Vending machines were out of order, trash cans at the main entrance were overflowing, and there was litter in the hallways.
