Charles River Motel

Nothing fancy about the rooms, and the beds bounced more than I like. There's no breakfast, though McDonald's and IHOP are right next door. Still, for $100 my daughter and I had a warm room and a roof over us after a nearby concert, and the venue was only a 10-minute Uber ride away. They told us at check-in that the hot water was out, but it was fixed by morning. This motel was about what you'd expect for the price.

The room was spacious, but the heater ignored my adjustments and kept running. I turned it off, then restarted it in the morning when I woke up cold, and it worked then. The next morning there was no hot water, so I couldn't shower. At checkout I mentioned the water issue. The desk person said they already knew and were working on it, squeezed in a "have a nice day" all at once, and abruptly ended the conversation. I told him I was just letting him know, not complaining. The evening front desk service had been fine, although check-in took a while: there was only one person working, and the guest ahead needed to sort out a $7.58 difference. After standing in line about ten minutes, I had to sit down. I probably won't return.

The check-in was easy and friendly, and the customer service was great. My room was clean, the pillows and sheets were clean, and the bed was comfortable. It's a good spot for a Roadrunner show, about a four-minute inexpensive Uber ride away or a pleasant 25-minute walk. I'd definitely stay again.

The electrical outlets seemed to wreck anything we plugged in. We lost a PS5, a back massager, and a couple of chargers. The room was filthy too, with cobwebs in every corner and dirt or stains everywhere. My girlfriend and I never went barefoot in there. The staff were rude and made us feel unwelcome, like we'd done something wrong just by buying a room. Save your time, money, and electronics.
