We enjoyed our stay. The rooms were good, and housekeeping did a great job. Breakfast was very good too. The shuttle to the JFK subway station was really convenient, and we used it.

My first impression was awful: a group was smoking weed right outside the entrance when we arrived. I don’t usually mind much, but I had my kids with me and they felt uncomfortable right away. The hotel and staff seemed unwelcoming, and the elevators felt unsafe and scary. They broke down during our stay. The room seemed okay at first, but the next morning my kids were covered in bites. We pulled back the sheets and found bed bugs. I called the front desk right away, very upset, and asked for a manager, a room change, or a refund so I could go elsewhere. Donnie, the front desk gentleman, was rude and verbally abusive, with no empathy for the bites on my kids. He said he’d contacted a manager as requested, dismissed how I felt, and hung up. He claimed I was screaming and acting belligerent and crazy. That wasn’t true. I went back to the room to wait for a manager, hoping she’d understand. Ms. Selena Griffin, who was supposedly the manager on duty, also didn’t seem to care. In front of my kids, she said I was acting crazy too, said hotels have bed bugs, and offered to move us. We didn’t know where else to go, so we moved rooms. In that room the fan didn’t work properly, the lamp was broken, and wood was coming off the furniture. After how we’d been treated, we were too afraid to complain again. A man across from us said he was there with a school group and that one of his students had complained about bed bugs too. She was in the room next to our original one. He said he felt uncomfortable staying there, and I felt terrible for him and his students. I’ve stayed at many Choice Hotels and always enjoyed it before. This experience means I won’t again. We got one free night out of our three, but that doesn’t make things right. Train your staff better, clean the hotel, and teach them some etiquette. No one should leave a stay feeling or looking like my kids and I do.

We thought the Comfort Inn was a good deal and would stay again. It was reasonably updated and clean, and we were happy with the condition of everything. Check-in was fast. Our first-floor room was a decent size, and the beds and room were clean. Breakfast noise can carry to that floor in the morning, but we’re early risers, so it didn’t bother us. There were just a couple of hairs in the shower, and running the water took care of that. Breakfast was better than I expected: cereal and milk, toast, bagels, coffee, juice, make-your-own waffles, several kinds of yogurt, apples, bananas, fresh scrambled eggs, sausage, and oatmeal. There was plenty of seating, and my family, including picky teenagers, found enough to be happy with. With no traffic, Boston U and Northeastern were about 15 minutes away.

Breakfast had a wide selection and was great. The room was very clean and tidy, and the staff were pleasant. The only issue was a strong weed smell in the room when we arrived. Perfume got rid of it for a while, but we could smell it again after going out and coming back. We didn’t want to be a bother, so we never mentioned it. We’d totally book again.

The location was handy, with a grocery store right across the street and the major city about a 15-minute drive away. Our room was very clean and well kept, and everything was worry-free. Breakfast and coffee were good too. No complaints.
