John Jeffries House

The rooms are pretty basic for the price, and breakfast uses a lot of plastic cutlery and crockery. I don’t see why there needs to be so much disposable stuff when they must have dishwashers. The service is good, it’s clean, and it’s right next to the train station. If you’re driving, the roads are often gridlocked.

I stayed here in May for a conference and found the location really convenient. John Jeffries House is in a friendly area full of bars and restaurants, close to central Boston, about a 30-minute walk or less. The rooms were spacious and had everything I might need. Breakfast was simple but nice, and the place turned out to be an elegant, friendly bed and breakfast. Great value for money.

The room was okay, but it only had one bedside table even though there were two of us, so there wasn’t much space for plugs either. The woman who first checked us in was kind and helpful. After that, though, most of our staff interactions were unpleasant. One man had no people skills, and at checkout a woman tried to argue with me when I returned the keys. She’d earlier shoved the receipt at us aggressively in the upstairs hallway. I wouldn’t recommend staying here if you expect the staff to help you.

A cozy little bed and breakfast in downtown Boston, with a lovely breakfast lounge where you can read the paper before checking out. We had a great stay. Terry and Curtis are among the many wonderful people working behind the scenes to make guests comfortable and happy.
