Days Inn & Conference Center by Wyndham Branford New Haven

The front desk woman was very nice, probably the best part of the hotel. Everything else was a mess. The room had only two towels, and we were told to use a room towel for the pool. The ice bucket was missing, and when they brought it, the ice machine had no grate to set it on, so I had to hold the bucket and look through the opening at the disgusting water below. The microwave didn't work and had no glass turntable. Half the hairdryer's plug was missing, exposing the green motherboard inside, and the fridge actually warmed my cold drinks. Outlets were coming off the wall and seemed unsafe for kids. There were broken, stained lampshades, and the AC cover was on the floor with part of the unit exposed. I'm still here, so hopefully breakfast is better, though a bowl of cold cereal wouldn't be hard to beat. I definitely don't recommend this hotel. It's not worth the money, look elsewhere.

The room itself was spacious, comfortable, clean, and well kept. For the price, it was comfortable enough for a night I had to spend there, and the amenities seemed worth the cost. Outside the room, the upkeep was rough: the conference center hallway smelled strongly of Raid, the building exteriors needed work, and the continental breakfast had very little to offer. The closed-down restaurant next door doesn't help the place's image either. It wasn't terrible, but you have to get past a first impression that feels like a no-tell motel.

On checkout day, the blankets were a mess, we found bugs, and there was garbage all over outside. The cleaning lady doesn't seem to know her job. Earlier, we had a pet-friendly room and they wanted to charge $15, but took $10 a day in cash instead, which seemed suspicious. They also knew we had a three-night stay and still called to ask whether we'd paid. We'd already paid, and it felt like they wanted to know what was happening in the room. I'm filing a complaint with the CT health department Monday morning. Save yourself the trouble and pay for somewhere better.

The room was clean and the bed was comfortable, and I'd stay again if I were in the area. The driveway is dark when you come in, though, and the property needs major landscaping and upkeep. The building in front, which I think may have been a restaurant, is an eyesore and makes the hotel look shabby. My husband also noticed there was no battery in the room's smoke detector.
