Ridge Top Motel and Campground

The manager or owner was very helpful, and the place is affordable, clean, and in an excellent location. I lost our key while we were out shopping, and he replaced it without a fuss. The room next door had loud small children, so when I asked to move, he arranged another room five doors down. I highly recommend staying here.

I wouldn’t recommend this place. The room smelled bad and wasn’t very clean. The microwave was atrocious inside, furniture knobs were missing, the walls were peeling and discolored in the shower, ceiling tiles were in very bad shape, and the bathroom doorknob was coming off. We couldn’t get a second key. They said housekeeping would let us in if we got locked out. When I asked again, the manager got defensive and said we’d been given their best room at no extra charge.

I was glad to find somewhere to stay when and where I needed it, and they were flexible about checkout to fit my schedule. Still, I came away thinking I could have chosen better. I knew not to expect much for the low price, but the antique courtyard layout I liked made carrying things to and from the car awkward. The outdoor pool wasn’t open yet, which made sense given the early season. The place is clearly old, and the updates have had mixed results. It was nice to have a bathtub, though it was badly stained. Service felt minimal and perfunctory, and the TV only worked through the internet.

We just needed somewhere to shower and sleep, and this did the job. It was clean, had hot water, and the furniture and bed were solid. The place is dated and won’t impress you with its looks, but it hit all three points on our 10/10 chart. It cost about one-third to one-fifth of what other places nearby were charging, and that’s what we expected for the price.
