Fairfield Inn & Suites Buckeye Verrado

Adriana in the breakfast area was a lovely surprise. Breakfast itself was typical of what most hotels offer, but the staff really made this place stand out. I watched Adriana warmly greet each guest and offer help, and she seemed to notice what people needed even when they didn’t say it. She was kind, welcoming, and thoughtful. The breakfast and dining space was spotless, too. A+.

If you want a cool room, I wouldn’t recommend staying here. The HVAC was awful, and I was extremely hot every night. The controls wouldn’t let me set the cooling below 68, probably the worst setup I’ve seen across more than 800 Marriott properties. Even the sister property in Surprise is better. I’m a Titanium Elite member, and charging over 300 a night while being this cheap is frustrating.

For a new hotel, this place was filthy, and the price was outrageous for what it is. I paid $350 a night for a King bed room, and the amount charged didn’t match the stated price. The room wouldn’t cool properly, and the bathroom was dirty. I sent the manager a video of it, and her response was basically, thanks for letting us know. Another reviewer mentioned the poor cooling, and I had the same problem. I’ve stayed at many Marriotts, but after this experience I’m done booking with them. In my experience, Marriott staff are oddly apathetic when problems come up. They pay lip service but don’t offer compensation. I’ve had better service at every other hotel chain. This place is a joke.

The room was remarkably clean, the layout was nice, and the staff were great. This hotel also has the best lobby I’ve seen in a Fairfield, with plenty of restaurants within walking distance. But it was noisy. The walls and doors let through pillow talk from next door at 2am, doors closing on our side of the floor, and plenty of noise from the shopping area outside. The HVAC uses a Verdant panel with a motion sensor, and there’s no option to keep the fan running all day. I hope Marriott and its partners learn something from this. If you’re not a light sleeper, I’d recommend it.
