The breakfasts were beautifully presented and extremely good, and our hosts were warm and full of useful knowledge. We stayed two nights in the Governor's room, which was beautifully furnished. The whole home was amazing, from its period pieces to the lovely woodwork and stair rails. We’d absolutely come back.

We’ve already booked another stay for next year, hopefully during the strawberry festival. The holiday weekend and COVID meant a lot of the cute town was closed, but we still had a lovely first stop on our anniversary weekend. Char and Jack made us feel comfortable and welcome, our room was clean, and its decor suited the house perfectly. And the breakfast was AMAZING.

The owners were AWESOME. They even stayed up to let us in when we arrived late, then set us up to watch the 18 inning World series game. We had great conversation, a comfortable bed, and an amazing breakfast. Their lunch recommendations were spot on, too. What a great stay, though I almost don’t want to give A Governors Inn a good review because I’d like to keep this hidden gem to myself!

Jack gave us a grand tour and told us about the inn’s history. We also appreciated his suggestions for dinner and entertainment in Buckhannon, and we’ll definitely be back. My husband and I stayed one night in the Mary Ireland room, with a little sitting area off to the side. The bed was very comfortable. Charla and Jack welcomed me like an old friend, and breakfast was delicious, the kind of meal you wouldn’t get at a large hotel.

We left after two nights feeling like family. Breakfast comes right on time, and the food is scrumptious, homemade, and tailored to whatever dietary preferences you have. The owners will bend over backwards for you. The place is impeccable, with a modern sensibility alongside antiques that give the home a real sense of its history. It’s a bed and breakfast, and we wouldn’t stay anywhere else nearby. Two thumbs up, and I’d give it more stars if I could.
