HYATT house Boston/Burlington

We stayed a little over two weeks while we waited for our home to be ready. Shopping centers and stores were convenient, mostly a 10-15 minute drive away, with a good variety to choose from. Our two-room suite gave the family enough space, and the guests we met were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was decent, although I’m from the South and think the eggs needed more cooking. The on-site laundromat has two good washers. The middle washer fell short, but all the dryers worked well. The gym is small and better for light exercise, though it’s enough to keep up a routine during a short stay. The third floor is being renovated, which I understand, but the carpets throughout the building need replacing. The vacuums there can’t get the dirt built up over time, so we used our own to feel more comfortable. We had a serious leak from the room above. At first we thought our child had spilled water in the kitchen, but after cleaning it up we realized where it was coming from. I do renovation work myself, and the separated ceiling joints across the kitchen and above the bar area made it clear this had happened before. I told the front desk, and they sent an emergency tech, but the leak wasn’t fixed. I asked for towels and trash cans to deal with the dripping overnight. Staff did come inspect, but we weren’t moved until the next day. By then we were exhausted. The replacement room wasn’t much better. Upstairs noise sounded like a party, and from 6-8 a.m. we could hear neighbors coughing, sneezing, and yelling. We came close to sleeping in our car, but it was too cold. There were also unexpected charges on our final bill. Some were corrected, and we were told we’d be reimbursed for the inconvenience and leak, but nothing beyond those corrections came through. The location itself isn’t bad, though construction workers bring a lot of foot traffic during the renovations. The pool and basketball court weren’t usable in 25° weather. The property has potential once the updates are finished.

Dee at the front desk was welcoming, friendly, and informative at check-in. Our room was clean and the breakfast buffet was good. The hotel has some great features, but there are things that could use attention. The hallways weren’t vacuumed during our stay and smelled odd. At checkout I spotted an extra night of parking on our bill. The clerk removed the charge, but I might have left without noticing if I hadn’t checked the online invoice. Be sure to look it over.

We stayed here before visiting Salem, and the drive there was easy enough, about 25 minutes on a Friday morning in October. The staff were very kind and welcoming, and their hospitality stood out. It was our first time in this kind of room: a king bedroom, a second bedroom with two double beds, plus a kitchenette and living room. It worked perfectly for a small family. Everyone had space, slept decently, and could get ready without crowding each other. The glass pitcher in the fridge was a welcome surprise and useful for cold water. Breakfast was decent. The shower pressure wasn’t great, and the beds could use mattress toppers.

There are several good restaurants nearby. We had a wonderful stay, and I’d definitely recommend this Hyatt in the area. Our room had lots of space, including a kitchenette area and a roomy bathroom. The king bed was very comfortable.
