Red Lion Inn and Suites Butte

Traveling nurses and other travel staff, beware. The rooms were supposed to be non-smoking, but guests in the hotel's smoking section left their doors open, letting smoke into the hallway instead of venting it out a window. At night it got so thick near the main entrance that I had to cover my nose with my shirt, and smoke drifted down to the non-smoking rooms and made it hard to sleep. The rooms were never cleaned, the bedding wasn't changed, towels weren't replaced, and trash was only taken out if you left it outside the door. The owner, Mr.Ali, quoted me $1,450 a month while I was in Kentucky. After I'd driven for a day and a half, he said it would be $2,100 a month. I mentioned the earlier quote, and he offered to make it an even $1,500. This was at 12:30 a.m. I just needed somewhere to sleep, so I agreed. I was too tired to argue over $50, but I didn't want to keep doing business with someone like that. I found an apartment for half the price with a month-to-month lease and returned my room key 10 days early. That should've meant a $500 credit, but the young woman said it wasn't refundable, even though the paperwork said nothing about that. If this were my last option, I'd drive to Helena for a room first.

The room was very clean and simple, and his customer service was up to par. So far, I'd stay again, except that we had our dogs with us. If you have severe pet allergies, this isn't the place for you.

I was so grateful for the people working here. I was leaving town for my father's funeral and got stranded with my son. We stayed at this motel hoping to get an Uber or Lyft in the morning, but after waiting three hours, we couldn't get a ride because of the area. Staff overheard me on the phone and let the owner know. I don't remember the gentleman's name, but he immediately offered to drive my son and me at no cost. I hadn't expected anything like that. I'd definitely stay again and highly recommend the place. Great people work here, amazing individuals. Thanks for looking out for us!

The building doesn't look like the pictures, and I wouldn't recommend this Red Lion. They claimed to have a big parking lot, but that's not true. They also said breakfast was provided, which wasn't true either. Half the exterior cameras don't work. Our room had no shower curtain and no towels. It felt more like a Motel 4.
