Evergreen Resort

The pool area was in poor shape, with a huge hole in the ceiling and bugs on the floor. The service and communication made this the worst vacation ever. I arrived 15 minutes after check-in, but my room wasn't ready. When I came back an hour later, the room I'd booked wasn't available, so they put us in a standard room instead. The receptionist said to clear it the next morning and promised to move us to a deluxe room. On our second night, I found out she hadn't changed the room. The rooms were available, just not cleaned, so we were sent back to the one we'd started in.

The wedding venue was beautiful, but do not stay at this hotel. The plumbing was bad too: toilets wouldn't flush, and we had to move the shower fixture around for a while before it would work. Others in the wedding party had plumbing problems as well. We stayed for a wedding in August. I was told we might be able to arrive early and should call the front desk that morning to check whether the room was ready. When I called, Veronica answered rudely and accused me of lying. She said everyone calls claiming they were told rooms would be available early, but they never are. If she gets that many calls, maybe she's the common denominator. I doubt all those people are lying. She didn't ask for my name or confirmation number until I confronted her, then suddenly she wanted my name. When I asked for a manager, she kept saying none was available and threatened to cancel my reservation. My sister was also staying there and had been told she could get into her room early. Veronica gave me an attitude when I checked that my sister really would be able to enter after driving two hours on the understanding that she could.

Breakfast is included, and the pool and hot tub are a nice extra. The rooms and furnishings are vintage, so don't expect anything fancy. It's basically fine for sleeping. Service is slow, and nobody comes even when you make a special request.

Curly's is a nice bar and grill right on-site. We couldn't be happier with the room, which was very nice. I really don't see what there is to complain about.
