Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Cadillac by IHG

Charlie, my service dog, seemed comfortable here, and they welcomed both of us without complications. The place looks and feels clean. I woke up without feeling stuffy, which is unusual for me at a hotel. I enjoyed the stay and the service here in Cadillac.

The staff are friendly and very nice, and the king room was a good size, clean, and had a comfortable bed and pillows. The bathroom was nice too. But there's nowhere to plug in my phone by the bed without swapping the desk lamp with the bedside table lamp, and there are no USB ports. There's no complimentary water either, so bring some if you plan to use the Keurig. Breakfast looked good, but they don't offer takeout, so you can't bring it to work if you're not there in time to sit down and eat. I've never stayed somewhere without that option. The gym was very disappointing, about the size of a walk-in closet. On my last day, my internet stopped accepting the password at 6 a.m., before checkout. Because of these drawbacks, I'll ask to stay somewhere else next time I'm in town for work.

The rooms were clean, breakfast was okay, and the location was great. For a Holiday Inn, it was pretty average. The main problem was the pool and hot tub. The pool was freezing, while the “hot tub” was barely warm and seemed like it needed to be drained and cleaned. It was kind of gross. At night, the pool area's bright lights did nothing to set the mood. They made it feel more like a high school gym before a freestyle competition.

Management is horrible, and the way they treat the staff is insane. The place is nasty and outdated, though they're in the middle of a remodel. I still don't think it'll be well run, since they can't keep people there. They had trouble with the washing machine dispensing bleach at 1.5% instead of 15%. They didn't run the machines again to check that everything was clean; they just let it go.
