Motel 6 Calhoun, GA

There was a roach on the bathroom sink, cigarette burns on the bedding, and floors so filthy I threw my socks away. The TV didn’t work, either. My reservation was wrong, and it took an hour to sort out. There was also a homeless person sleeping outside behind the office where the hotel attendant was. This place was absolutely disgusting. The only way to fix it, I think, is for it to stop existing.

This seems better for a stay of just a few days. The weekly rates weren’t that great, but they don’t complain unless you’re making other guests uneasy. We were one of several families with big dogs, and they didn’t complain when ours barked loudly or might scare people.

The vending machine had discolored food, which wasn’t an inviting first impression. I stopped in to pick up some pamphlets and was rudely asked, “Can I help you?” With that awful attitude, I decided to go elsewhere. Looking around, I felt like I’d dodged a bullet: a window was busted out and covered with cardboard, there were large white notices on some doors, and garbage, bikes, and other stuff were scattered around the parking lot and by the trees. I’d hate to see the rooms.

It’s quiet, close to everything, and good for families and dogs. The owners are very nice, and all the staff I’ve dealt with have been helpful and friendly.
