Days Inn By Wyndham Canon City

I was skeptical after seeing a 2.6 rating, but this hotel was a great stay and deserves at least a 4.8. The indoor pool was clean and hot, the hot tub felt amazing, and my room’s mattress was ridiculously plush. Front desk guy Auni was exceptionally charming and accommodating, and I felt truly welcome. Thanks for a stellar stay! If you think I’m wrong, go ahead and boo me. 👍🤩

The room was dirty, including the sink area, where I found black hairs. The sink clearly hadn’t been cleaned properly. The hotel isn’t clean, and the breakfast is a joke: no creamers, eggs, or sausage. Other places that serve eggs and sausage charge less. The vending machine took my money, though the front desk guy was able to get it to try again. That left me paying four dollars for one bag of M & M's. The door was a mess too. The doorknob was loose, and when I looked, some screws that should have held it in place were missing. You’re charging people 80 plus tax to stay here? This place needs to run its business more professionally instead of being a third discount rate hotel with broken doorknobs. So gross!

The room was clean, the bed was comfy, and it was quiet. Breakfast was very limited, just a piece of toast or a waffle and coffee. They do serve breakfast, as they say, but it sucked.

The place looked new and remodeled from a distance, but up close it felt like lipstick on a pig, still falling apart under fresh paint. The online pictures seemed misleading, like they showed the room that had gotten the most work just to get people to book. In the lobby, the front desk staffer stared at a game on his phone for over a minute before looking up. That was only the start. The hot tub was down, one of the main things we wanted. They said they didn’t have enough towels, so we’d have to track down staff if we needed more. Then came a whole explanation that smoking in the room meant a $250 fine each time, even though we wanted a smoke-free room. Room 116 smelled like old cigarettes as soon as we walked in, as if it had been painted over. The paint looked like a 15-year-old had done it, uneven, dripping on the doors, badly trimmed, and unfinished in parts of the bathroom. There were holes from construction, and the renovation looked rushed. The cleanliness was nonexistent. There were big carpet stains and marks all over the walls, a half inch of dirt and grime on the heater AC unit, poop in the toilet bowl, and slimy grime on the seat. The bathtub had specs of mold in the bottom, and the whole bathroom smelled like cat pee covered with urine Destroyer. The sink water smelled like sewage. The room was a bit cold and drafty, and when we turned on the heater it blew out a hot cigarette smell. In the hallway, the baseboards were rusted and falling apart, the common area floors were dirty, and lights flickered throughout the hotel. The whole place felt dilapidated. We had booked two nights. I went to the front desk right away to say we wouldn’t stay the second night. We thought we could tough out the first since we’d be charged anyway, but after about 30 minutes we packed up and ran out through the back door. When I called to say we were leaving and hadn’t even stayed the first night, the staff seemed completely unbothered and didn’t ask why. I’m appalled that Wyndham would put its name on a place this terrible. Don’t book here unless you’re okay paying way too much for a stinky, dirty, unprofessional experience. You’d have to be drunk, blind, and have no sense of smell to be comfortable here.
