Americas Best Value Inn Canton, NC

I’d say this isn’t a place for families. When I’m exhausted, I usually don’t care where I sleep, but my wife was with me this trip, and she’s a professional cleaner. She was horrified by the room and cleaned it until she felt comfortable enough to sleep there. I suggested changing rooms, but she wouldn’t. We wouldn’t recommend staying here with a family. If you’re alone, tired, and don’t mind a dirty room with no shower curtain, then by all means stay. The room wasn’t even a little bit good.

The room felt dirty. There were cigarette burn holes in the blanket, and the sink drain wouldn’t go down.

The courtyard is nice and opens onto all the first-floor rooms, but there weren’t any chairs to sit and enjoy it. The pool was closed, with a lawn chair in it. The place seems to be under repair, and the rooms were very damp. I think they’d just finished fumigating the whole place, since all the doors were open. There were no extra security latches or chairs on the doors.

The front desk staff were decent, and we even talked them down a few dollars after they raised rates for Memorial Day weekend. We were just passing through on our way to Myrtle Beach and stopped for the night. The air conditioner blew warm air, the sheet had a cigarette burn, the ceiling was peeling, and the chair had lots of rips. Even though it was a nonsmoking room, it smelled of cigarettes. I’ve stayed in much worse motels, but the price should match the quality. It definitely wasn’t worth $122 for one night.
