This was my first stay at a La Quinta, and it'll be my last. I can't understand the good reviews unless they came from bots or paid reviewers. The hotel was dirty, falling apart, and clearly run on a shoestring budget. Maybe some of the issues sound minor on their own, but after four nights in this room, we didn't feel safe or like we were on vacation. We didn't trust the breakfast or coffee maker, either. It was basically just a bed we hoped didn't have bedbugs and a TV. The latch on the door was snapped in half, probably because someone had tried to kick it in. There were cracks around the ceiling, stains on the bathroom walls that looked like someone had an accident or thrown up, and strange neon paint on the bathroom doorframe and one lamp. The tub frame had disgusting, caked-on stains. The room smelled like cheap cigars until I disinfected everything and ran the air for a while. Service was pretty much nonexistent, though I may have kept away from people myself. The housekeepers also brought a horrible smell to the floor. I don't know if it was something they used for cleaning, but it smelled like rotting garlic, awful body odor, and mildew. I have a strong stomach and nearly puked whenever I had to leave the room. Maybe other rooms are okay and we got the worst one, but I can't know that. Added together, these problems made for a miserable stay when all we wanted was a decent, clean room. The only good thing was the low price, but I'd rather pay more for a clean room.

The grounds were tidy, and check-in and checkout went smoothly. The staff were amazing. We had a fantastic stay, especially since this is easily one of the cleanest pet-friendly places we’ve visited. Usually a hotel that takes pets means giving up on cleanliness, but this one was spotless throughout.

I’d already booked after seeing the bad reviews and couldn’t be bothered changing plans. They weren’t overdramatic. The place really is bad. I could sleep okay and nobody bothered me, so I put up with it. But the room smelled like a big wet dog mixed with an old, stinky shoe, and opening the window the whole time didn’t clear it up. Getting fresh towels was bizarre. You had to hand over your used ones, but the laundry room was closed every time I tried, several times in one day. I was left with dirty towels. Towels are cheap, so it’s a strange thing to protect when the rooms smell so awful. I checked out Monday, and by Friday I was sick. I think I caught the flu there. On my way out, I saw a guy I think was the property manager talking about painting the building exterior. I told him the rooms smelled bad and maybe that should be fixed first. He just stared blankly. He didn’t seem to care about customer feedback. They care about towels and making the outside look nice, while the smell is terrible. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

The location was handy, right off the highway, with food nearby and even a Sheetz within 20 minutes. Our two Corgis sniffed out a bit of food the vacuum had missed, so cleanliness was decent rather than perfect. The AC, TV, and Wi-Fi all worked well, and my car was left alone. Nothing but a plus.

The second room smelled a little better than the first, but still wasn’t great. It had dirty, used sheets, trash behind the nightstand, and a dirty tub and sink. The first room had a bug in the sink, smelled awful, and wasn’t clean either. Even the lobby smelled bad when we arrived. This place is a dump and doesn’t care about customers. Never again, La Quinta.
