Home2 Suites by Hilton Carlsbad

We were here for a soccer tournament, so the hotel was busy with players and probably noisier than usual. The staff were friendly and polite, the service was great, and we had no issues with our room. We’ll stay here again next time we’re in the area.

A real home away from home, with roomy suites, kitchens, and a nice divider between the king bed and sofa bed. There’s a heated pool and hot tub, plus a fire pit and comfortable seating throughout. I love this place. It’s easily one of my favorites.

Big, clean rooms, great breakfast, and Legoland is just down the street. They even served turkey bacon. One woman was handling the whole breakfast setup, and she was amazing. She kept everything stocked, cooked and put the food out, washed dishes, and cleaned tables, all nonstop and with a smile. I really hope they value her at work, because she’s doing the work of three people.

The hotel was clean, and everyone we met was friendly. We travel more than 37,000 miles a year and usually stay at Hilton properties, as Hilton Diamond members, so we have a lot to compare it with. The bed was among the worst we've had in nine years on the road. Both of us woke with sore backs each morning. After the third night, my back went out while I was loading the car. I'm an athletic 50-year-old from Colorado, and that just doesn't happen to me. I spent the day barely able to stand, then slept on the floor the next night. The two-day drive home was painful too. We liked the hotel, but hated the bed.
