Target Hospitality - Carlsbad Lodge

The decent rooms have a desk, which is a nice feature missing at Corporate Hospitality. The food is usually good, and the gym and laundry setup are both decent. Getting between the room, mess hall, and laundry means a lot of walking, though. Since all the buildings are joined by walkways, parking isn’t great compared with Corporate Hospitality.

The location is the camp’s strongest point, and the rooms are decent. The food, though, was terrible this time. Sometimes they were out of things, and other times food was burned. The omelette I ordered wasn’t fully cooked, and the cooks argued with each other while working. The food and service felt very substandard, so I chose to eat at restaurants instead.

The rooms are roomy and clean, and they try to keep the whole man camp tidy. Housekeeping comes twice a week to change towels and take out the trash. When something’s wrong in the room, they fix it right away if they can, or at least try to. A few things could be better. The cleaning staff can be noisy in the morning when you’re trying to sleep, and the walls are thin enough that you hear your neighbors talking and moving around. Some TVs are dated, too. The food used to be good, but these days it varies, some days are fine and others could be better.

The VIP rooms were good, and the food was quite decent. Housekeeping was less consistent than I expected, with the room cleaned only once a week instead of the usual every three days. Still, all in all, I had a good experience.
