Hilton Garden Inn Indianapolis/Carmel

Our room had already been remodeled and was clean and quiet, but we stayed three nights and the rest of the renovation made things pretty inconvenient. The workout area was closed, and the lobby had dust, plastic coverings over some seating and eating areas, and a dusty route to the elevators with tape and fresh paint on the walls. No one told us about the work when we booked. If we’d known how the hotel was, we would have gone somewhere else. I’d suggest checking that the remodeling is finished before making a reservation.

Jim at the front desk really went out of his way for me. Everyone was friendly, and the rooms were very clean, so I had a nice stay overall. Breakfast is made to order, covered with status credit or available for about $10 and up.

The next morning I told the front desk about the hair in my bed and specifically asked housekeeping to replace the sheets. When I came back that evening, they’d only straightened them. I went down and asked for another room. I found a noticeable clump of long dark hair and several strands in the bed after showering around 10:30 at night. I didn’t want to pack everything up so late, so I removed the hair and slept poorly on the edge. Before unpacking or showering, check the towels and sheets. Maybe there was a mix-up, or maybe the person thought the sheets didn’t need changing between guests, but either way it was gross.

We were in a suite on a quiet Sunday night. The room was clean, though the bathroom was a little small. That didn’t bother us, but it’s something to know if you prefer a larger hotel bathroom. The hotel is being renovated right now, and the gym and pool are closed. There’s complimentary coffee in the lobby in the morning.
