Hofsas House Hotel

The staff were welcoming and the service was great throughout our stay. Breakfast each morning had pastries, muffins, yogurt, fruit, coffee, and juice. My kids loved the heated pool and sauna, too. Hofsas House is right in the heart of Carmel-by-the-Sea, so we could easily walk to the beach, shops, and restaurants. We absolutely loved staying here and would come back.

The building and architecture have a really cute look, and it’s close enough to town that you can walk around downtown and explore. The front desk staff were so friendly. Our room was very clean, with great housekeeping each night, and there were good-quality shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and hand soap. Breakfast was on the small side but had some nice options.

The ocean view from our room was beautiful, and the room was clean, but it was in poor repair. The bathroom looked like it dated from the 1960s and needs maintenance or an update. Furniture was banged up, and the TV was too small to watch comfortably from bed. The location is great, and the front desk staff were very helpful and service-minded. Parking is tight, and getting to the rooms could be difficult for anyone with mobility issues. The hotel itself really needs substantial updating.

The staff were welcoming and super nice, and the pool looked clean and pleasant. There are a couple of tables on the fourth floor where you can take in the ocean view at sunset. The place is a bit dated, but it’s clean, well cared for, and surprisingly nice for the money.
