Le Petit Pali at Ocean Ave

The location puts you right in downtown Carmel, with beaches, shops, and restaurants all within walking distance. Front desk staff were welcoming and knew the area well, and their dinner suggestions were great. I also loved how much thought went into the details, from the welcome note, chocolate, and fresh cookies in the room to the complimentary sparkling rosé at check-in. The decor is gorgeous and distinctive, and the clean common spaces feel inviting places to gather. Social hour runs from 3-8pm, with a complimentary signature cocktail and other drinks available to buy. We'd happily stay at Le Petit Pali again.

Parking is a little tight, but that didn't take away from a great two-night stay. The rooms are adorable, and every evening from 6-7p, staff brought chocolate chip cookies to the room. Thanks to whoever cleaned mine for leaving extra! You're barely a 30-second walk from great shops and restaurants, close to the beach, and about a 45-minute drive from Big Sur. Loved every second and can't wait to return.

The room and location at Le Petit Pali Ocean Ave were perfect, but the way we were treated left us very disappointed. We spoke with three front desk receptionists during our stay. Only one was helpful; the other two seemed unhappy and bothered by us. The worst incident was Monday the 23rd, during construction on the property, which itself was fine. A man in a suit approached my husband by our car and told him, “Sir, you can park your trailer here.” We'd been guests for several days, so my husband didn't think he meant him. When the man repeated it, my husband said, “sir I don’t know what you’re talking about.” The man asked, “well arnt you with the construction workers?” My husband said no, then was asked, “Well then what are you doing here?” He replied, “I’m a guest,” and the man simply walked away without apologizing. We believe he was a manager, and later confirmed he was a regional manger for the company. We're hispanic, and the construction workers we saw were hispanic too, so the encounter felt like racial profiling. In 2026, that is unacceptable. We were also treated with much more respect at La playa hotel when we went there for drinks, even though we weren't guests.

Some of our favorite moments were sitting by the fire with friends, playing games, and having wine. The place is extremely dog friendly, and our pup had a great time. The rooms were adorable and comfortable, and the property felt cozy and beautiful, with every detail carefully chosen. Breakfast was delicious, and even the butter and luxe toiletries felt top quality. The location helped make the trip unforgettable. We can't wait to come back.
