It's a gorgeous spot, with well-kept grounds, a super clean and roomy intermediate king room, fireplace, and private patio. The bed was comfy, the linens smelled fresh, and the tub was clean enough to make me want a soak. Staff were exceptional, and the free continental breakfast delivered each day was a nice touch. The Foglifter coffee was excellent too. Carmel is pricey, but I felt this place was worth it. You're on the busy Ocean strip, so it's convenient for walking around, though traffic and parking get hectic, especially on weekends. Be warned that this part of Carmel is very hilly, so it can be hard if you have mobility issues. If you have time, put the phone away and find “The Pleasure of Writing.” Get some fine paper and a luxury pen and send family or friends a note about Lobos and Carmel through USPS while it still exists.
