Lamp Lighter Inn & Sunset House Suites

Just a short stroll from the beach, Lamp Lighter Inn was in a perfect spot for a sunset walk or a morning jog along the shore. I had a wonderful stay. The staff welcomed us warmly, were attentive, and were always up for helping with recommendations or having a friendly chat. The sitting area has a lovely Carmel feel and was a nice place to read or have a quiet morning coffee. You can tell they've put care into making it cozy and elegant. I'd recommend the inn for a relaxing, comfortable stay in this picturesque California coastal town. Can't wait to come back!

We were driving up the coast and hadn't booked a place, but had planned to stay in Carmel-by-the-Sea. My partner and I walked into Lamp Lighter Inn with our dog and ended up staying two nights in late April. The staff were friendly and helpful, let us see the rooms before booking, and made it easy to extend our stay. The rooms were spacious, clean and well maintained. The inn felt cozy and inviting, with fire pits for guests, and we never had trouble with noise. The beach, good restaurants and cute shops were all a short walk away. We'd certainly stay again.

This was our second stay here. The first was wonderful, so this time I paid for a bigger, nicer room. When I opened the pullout bed for my son, I found some very disturbing droppings. I went straight to the front desk, and they said management would be contacted. They also sent pictures, but nobody from management or staff followed up or tried to make it right, even when we checked out. Paying that much for a room and then dealing with this when we were trying to settle in for the night was a real bummer.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, and breakfast was included. It's dog friendly, has private parking, and is within walking distance of shops, restaurants and beaches. Fantastic place to stay. This will become a regular spot for us.
