Motel 6 Cedar Park, TX

I expected this motel to be better than the Austin locations, but it turned out to be the worst one I’ve stayed at in all my years living in Austin. The room was only minimally clean when I arrived, but I was too exhausted to ask for another. Bugs bothered me day and night, and the odor was awful. I’m pretty sure there was mold because the room had a particular wet smell. I asked for the room to be cleaned, but the manager said they were short-staffed, even though the room next door was being cleaned. A guy who sat in the front lobby on his phone the whole time turned out to be staff. I met the manager and her daughter on Monday. They were nice, but couldn’t resolve the issues. When I asked again about cleaning, the manager said they could do it if I stayed another night, although I’d already extended my stay. Very disappointing.

Since moving to Texas a few years ago, I’ve stayed at this Motel 6 on and off. As a family with pets, we’ve found the neighborhood one of the best for transitional stays while working, commuting, and figuring out our next steps. Management has been understanding both professionally and in the circumstances we’ve been in. Credit where it’s due, thanks, cedar park M6.

The neighborhood feels safe and clean, and there are lots of places to eat nearby. Rates are decent, but the non-smoking rule isn’t enforced well, so the air quality is poor and smoke alarms go off nearly every morning. I wouldn’t recommend staying for that reason. Housekeeping deserves five stars. Tara, Ayushi and Mukesh, a lovely family from India, work hard and are so kind and pleasant to deal with. They deserve raises. They gave me a different room from the one I paid for, then wouldn’t consider switching me unless I agreed to pay more. What they claimed to offer was a lie: there was no pool, coffee, or continental breakfast, and they’d run out of pillows with no extra covers available. This is the worst hotel. I’ve stayed at several Motel 6s while traveling, and Houston medical has been the best so far. The ones in Austin Tx, Brownsville Tx, Springhill Florida, and Mississippi have been dirty with rude front desk staff.
