Weiss Lake Lodge

It’s pet friendly, and it’s a place for fisherman. There are long-term guests who are mostly nice, except for two women staying there. They’ve harassed people, me included, and have loud fights nearly every day, sometimes physical ones. Complaining to management does no good. He isn’t the one being threatened or harassed, and if he were, he’d call the police and have them removed. Since it’s not happening to him, he doesn’t care. We told them when we arrived that the toilet leaks. It has leaked for so long that water got onto the carpet, which is humped up and smells like dead, rotten fish. We’re still stuck in that stinky room next to the obnoxious, loud, rude, nasty, threatening girls who harass me. The microwave also only works on certain selections. I guess other people get treated better, depending on who you are.

The day manager was very nice and pleasant to deal with. He moved us to another room the next day, which I appreciated. The first room was absolutely disgusting: it stunk, had dirty towels, the air didn’t work properly, and I don’t think the sheets had been changed after the last guest. One mattress was broken too. The night manager was hateful. Check your room first if you plan on staying. The only reason I gave it 2 stars was the day manager. My sisters and I stayed over the weekend.

There’s plenty of parking, it’s easy to get in and out, and the place is peaceful and quiet with no drama. The staff are friendly and efficient, the air conditioning works great, and the room, linens and appliances were all very clean. There’s even a fridge in the office with cold drinks for sale. This is a family run business, and they take pride in it. They’re straightforward about what to expect, and if something goes wrong, they’re quick to sort it out. They do their best to accommodate pets, trailers, and maybe other needs too, so just call and ask. I’ve visited many times, and it’s a peaceful place to rest. They’re respectful and professional, and this will be the only lodging I patronize going forward. With the heat outside feeling higher than average right now, come on in and get out of it.

After a long night of fishing, we booked this motel at the last minute because it was near the lake. We arrived around midnight, three families in three rooms, and every room was still dirty. There were linens on the floor, trash in the rooms, and half-used soaps in the showers. The young man at the front desk was clearly upset and very apologetic. He said the cleaning staff hadn’t done their job and immediately offered a refund, which we appreciated. He handled it as best he could, but we still had to repack and drive over an hour home at 1 a.m. It wasn’t the experience we’d hoped for after a long day.
