There were enough outlets for everyone to charge their electronics, even two CPAP machines, and the roomy, nice-looking room didn’t feel cramped. It was clear the hotel was being remodeled, though. The bathroom had painted-over water damage, the window was held shut with a board and wouldn’t lock, and the floors looked unmopped. The beds were very firm and the pillows flat. Breakfast was a letdown too: dry cereal and a couple of bagels, with no juice or coffee. It’ll do if you need a few hours of rest and a shower, but a little more care and attention could make this a solid hotel.

Champaign can get very expensive at times. This place is older, but it was clean, comfortable, and had what I needed. I needed a toothbrush in the morning and woke the desk clerk at 6:30. They promptly told me they didn’t have any. When I went back at the shift change, the attendant opened a drawer and gave me one.

I was on a weeklong stop during a drive with my truck, and luckily found Super 8 Champaign IL. They had a spot to park the truck, the rates were good, the room was clean, and the staff were really good. Everything went well.

That refrigerator in room 108 was the one problem: whenever its condenser kicked in, it sounded like an MRI machine and woke me up several times overnight. The bed was comfortable and the room clean. Bathroom amenities were old, but the shower was good.

The rooms were clean and fully renovated, and the customer service was good. Free breakfast at that price is hard to beat. Great job, Super 8.
