The Francis Marion Hotel

The breakfast got my attention because they serve real eggs. I looked it up, and only a handful of hotels in Charleston don’t use rehydrated powdered eggs for an expensive buffet. The Bennett down the street is one, and the Francis Marion is another. For $15, you get two eggs made your way, over easy for me, plus a magnificent buffet that reminded me of what I had in Brazil or Turkey. I loved the peaceful period music, or the live piano player. The room was spacious, quiet, and well equipped with a small fridge and Keurig. The beds were incredibly comfortable, room service was prompt and generous, and the staff were friendly. It felt safe, the WiFi worked well for work, and there was a good choice of sports on TV. And you probably already know about the great location.

The cookies they put out each day were my favorite, even though they appeared at a different time each day. The water was delicious, too. I had a great stay at Francis Marion Hotel. The building and room were spotless and extremely well kept. I was honestly surprised not to find any mold, especially with no bathroom fan. I loved the rooms.

My boyfriend Michael Taylor had a great business meeting at the Country Club and took me along. What an amazing couple of days! Fresh flowers, my goodness. I enjoyed it so much. ❤️

The staff were super friendly, southern hospitality at its finest. When the heat wasn’t working and it was down in the low 30s, we called for service and they came quickly to fix it. The beds were VERY comfortable, probably among the most comfortable I’ve had away from home. I loved the classical piano in the lobby in the evenings, the delicious coffee and fruit infused water, and the great location and glorious view. The Francis Marion is a beautiful, fancy, spa like place with historical southern charm. The chandeliers and color scheme were a nice touch, and it had a lovely scent. It’s an old hotel with no hot tub, pool, or smart TV. The commodes flushed weird, and the bathrooms were small, though our room had two, which helped. There was a safe in the closet, an ice machine nearby, a Keurig, and a small fridge, but no microwave. Parking is in the city garage and costs extra, or you can use valet. There’s no free breakfast, though room service is available. They sometimes have snacks like muffins or cookies in the lobby, and Swamp Fox offers the option to reserve a table. I loved it there too, another five star review.
