Quality Inn Charleston - Sikeston

The two women I spoke with at check-in and check-out were pleasant, and the location is good, though there isn’t much choice for dining nearby. We also found truck parking. Happily, we didn’t see the bugs mentioned in earlier reviews. The room was the problem. Before opening the door, we could tell the AC wasn’t running. Outside it was almost 100 degrees, and the room was well over 80. Inside, there was a stifling, damp, closed-up smell, almost like a dog and funk. I ran the AC and left the door open for half an hour. The room cooled quickly. We sprayed deodorizer and drove ten miles to Sikeston for food, where I discovered there was a Comfort Inn there. After we got back, the room smelled better, but the bad odor had returned by morning, so we left earlier than planned. Breakfast was a waffle machine and cereal, which we skipped. Avoid this place. The owner or management may apologize, say they’ll look into things, and ask you to give them another chance, but reviews show that message has been going on for over two years. If you can, go to Sikeston for a better stay.

The price was fair, the staff friendly, and the location suited my business trip. But my room smelled musty and could have been cleaned better. Breakfast choices were limited.

The room smelled strongly of stinky feet, and there were specks of blood on the wall beside the bed. The shower was gross, the bedding was stained, and the sheets had holes. Dirt and dead bugs were in the floor corners. I spent the night feeling like something was crawling on me, so it wasn’t restful at all. The remote didn’t work, and the fridge roared all night like a jet taking off. I can’t believe this place is associated with Choice Hotels.

It was $118 for a king room. The rooms are outside entry, and the hotel is older, though the room itself was clean. Breakfast was just pancakes and cereal. At 10 pm the front doors were locked, and business was handled at a side window, like a bank teller.
