The owners and staff made the stay feel special with all the little extras. There was a breakfast basket each morning, snacks when we arrived, car service, and a wine and cheese happy hour. Even the key card came in its own distinctive holder. My wife and I were blown away by how much thought went into everything. They really do this place right.

We stayed April 4-7, 2025, in the Two Bedroom Residence at The Restoration Hotel, and had a really good visit. The downtown location made it easy to walk to restaurants, shops, historic spots, and pretty streets, so exploring Charleston was simple. Our mornings started with a tasty breakfast delivered to the door, and the staff were warm and attentive throughout. The residence felt more like a private city home than a hotel room. It was roomy, with two king bedrooms, two full bathrooms, a complete kitchen with stainless steel appliances, a comfortable living room, and a washer and dryer. Exposed brick and hardwood gave it historic character, while the modern comforts and thoughtful details made it easy to settle in. We found the stay comfortable and memorable, and I'd recommend it to anyone wanting convenience and comfort in the heart of the city.

The location is cute and close to busy shopping and good places to eat, and once we got into the room we were generally pleased. But check-in was confusing: we were told the elevator was broken and to give them time to fix it if we didn't want to carry our bags. When we came back, staff said it was still down and almost fixed. About an hour later, when we asked to check in anyway, we learned there was another elevator working, just slower than usual because of extra traffic. I don't know why nobody mentioned that at the start. There are safety issues in the suite too. A raised flooring seam runs down the middle and is easy to trip on, especially at night. For the price, it should be fixed. The water also gets far hotter than is safe. I like a hot shower, but this was scalding, and holding your hands under it long enough could cause a serious injury. It seems well above the 120° health-code limit and needs immediate attention for guest safety.

Matthew, the guest experience manager, drove us to the aquarium and African American Museum on separate days, right when we needed to go, and was so gracious about it. That kind of service made our first Charleston visit even better. The hotel is just off King Street, a perfect base for walking to shops, historic landmarks, museums, and restaurants. We covered about 12k steps a day. The room was just right and quiet. I also loved having The Rise Coffee Bar attached. The breakfast basket each day was a treat, even when we had breakfast plans elsewhere, since fruit or a pastry was nice to start with. When I asked for more popcorn and Coca-Cola, they brought both quickly. The bathtub had a really comfortable slope too. I'd happily come back.

The front desk was quick and friendly, and our room was clean, roomy, and had good amenities. The hotel's in a great spot. Still, the beds were so hard that I struggled to rest, probably the hardest mattress I've slept on. Breakfast left at the door was a nice idea, but felt very budget. There wasn't really a concierge available. You had to email, and replies were slow. The bathroom fans both rattled badly, and one was hanging from the ceiling. I'm not sure if it was just our room, but on the last two nights we woke to a loud droning outside around 5am. The thin walls also let in a lot of outdoor noise and conversations from the next room.
