Motel 6 Charlotte, NC - Coliseum

There were roaches all over the room, even though the reviews said the place was clean. I can't stand bugs, and I was so disappointed. When I first got to the room and opened the shower curtain to use the bathroom, there were roaches in the tub. They had no boundaries. There's supposedly a no-smoking rule, but cigarette burn marks were all around the tub. This hotel is absolutely disgusting. For the price, I can find a hotel that may not be perfect but definitely won't have ROACHES.

We'd driven 24 hours for a three-night stay, but when we arrived, the hotel had given our room away. Luckily, we'd only made a reservation and my husband hadn't paid. He was already grossed out as soon as he stepped into the lobby. I can see why it's rated two stars. Spend a little more for somewhere cleaner that treats its potential guests with respect.

For a cheap motel, it was okay. We slept well, felt safe, and the beds were comfortable, though sirens went by during the night. The staff were friendly and didn't charge us a deposit. Our room was missing towels and rags, so we had to ask a housekeeper who was cleaning another room. Nobody came by that night or the next morning with fresh towels. The desk, sink, and side table were sticky with residue, and the sheets had stains; the comforter also had a cigarette burn. Fine for a few nights if you know you're booking a budget place, but don't expect luxury.

The yard is fenced in, so kids can run and play, and pets are welcome. There's also a pergola with a grilling area and a nice view of the trees from the front of the building. The place feels tucked away, and my room was clean. What really stood out was the staff. AR was kind, respectful, and always ready to help. They were some of the best hotel staff I've seen in a long time.
